Kirk Cheesman, Managing Director of NCI, the ICBA Australia Partner has revealed some of the reasons why the company is experiencing phenomenal growth. When asked how NCI benefits from being an ICBA Partner Kirk said: “It’s a fantastic story to tell our local clients and future global prospects. The ICBA provides a knowledgeable Trade Credit Insurance specialist network around the world. Access to information, conditions, local terms, contacts and even languages are broken down via the ICBA. The ability to also refer and receive business for global or regional solutions is also important. Dealing with placement and local regulations can easily be dealt with through ICBA partners. We share a common goal.”

When asked how NCI gains new customers Kirk said: “We don’t ever limit potential customers. If you sell goods or services on credit, we can help you. From small apple exporters to large global corporate steelmakers, NCI have products and a service model that can assist. We have a large team of “on the ground” new business brokers. It’s their role to prospect and meet with businesses every week. This encompasses cold calling, networking, referrals, industry meetings, sponsorships, trade shows and CFO presentations. If you want to succeed you have to tick all of these boxes and work to the highest standards!

Kirk’s tips for a business considering exporting to Australia included:

“Because Australia is a politically safe country with strong economic conditions and tight regulations you’re likely to find dealing with Australian businesses a steady risk. A strong focus is placed on financial management and most businesses have a good understanding of payment requirements and credit terms. Businesses are used to dealing on open credit and importing/exporting. Australians are generally open to new relationships and partnerships in business and whilst acknowledging the importance of the detail we are relaxed by nature and value a business friendship. It is not just about doing business.”

NCI have offices in all States of Australia, Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch in New Zealand, and in Singapore. They have recently incorporated a company in Malaysia. Clients are in China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Taiwan, Korea, India, Thailand and Indonesia.
