The latest report from the Food and Drink Federation, an organisation representing the UK’s food and drink manufacturing sector states that alcoholic drinks were the most heavily exported products from Britain in 2019. Whisky is at the top of the list as the most imported product with beer, wine and gin also featuring in the top ten. Chocolate products were the second most heavily exported product from the UK, with salmon, cheese, beef, soft drinks and wheat products making up the rest of the top 10.

Andy Moylan, UK ICBA Partner said: “It is important we continue to grow our export business especially in emerging markets, supported by the UK government and financial institutions because funding is usually key to export growth. The ICBA has a local presence in these emerging markets and a massive global presence. Working together with other ICBA Broker Partners we can help exporters to enter a territory and build solid foundations. The services offered by The ICBA that are most in demand from food exporters include up to date locally derived intelligence on market conditions and specific buyers, Trade Credit Insurance to protect the sales ledger and facilitate growth and, when business relationships don’t work out as anticipated, local collections – recovering unpaid debt in the territory itself.”
